The Magic of Storytelling
Jan 4, 10:10 AM | 1 comment | written by John Peele
I know, I know. I know what you are saying… “John, you aren’t really a blogger, you don’t give, you only take from other blogs.” And you couldn’t be more right. ;)
But we are about to begin a redesign of this aging place, and I wanted to post a couple more times before we lay down this design and behold the new. And part of this redesign/realign/refine is to incorporate a plan for telling you the stories that are formed behind the doors of Rockbeatspaper. You can call it blogging if you will, but we have already established the fact that I suck at that exercise and that will most likely continue to be the case. But what I am venturing into I don’t necessarily consider blogging, but rather storytelling. The ups, the downs, the right turns, the wrong ones, the money, the mountains and the valleys. All of the transparency we hear so much about these days. But I like to call it storytelling, so that’s what we’ll go with.
And so here is a link to someone else’s blog who does a much better job of covering one aspect of storytelling. Wilson Miner is always a good read. And his posting frequency more closely matches mine. I think we are on the same rhythm.
RBP Serves on ECPI Advisory Board

The ECPI College of Technology has recently introduced a web design degree program at their Greensboro campus. They recently held an advisory board luncheon and meeting on October 19th to discuss the curriculum for several of their degree programs. RBP was invited to the web design panel to discuss the current curriculum and the needs of local web design companies.
After enjoying a great lunch catered in by Macaroni Grill, we met for a couple of hours to review their current curriculum. We met with the Greensboro department head, the Raleigh campus department head as well as several other faculty and students. We had an engaging conversation about their current curriculum and the needs of the local web design & development companies. Overall, we felt like the advisory panel was very productive and that we were able to offer some insight to them concerning changes in their curriculum. We enjoyed our time with them and we look forward to future advisory panels as well as a continued partnership with ECPI.

One of our very happy clients, Mudan Boutique has been featured in a short video on SpinDaily.com. Mudan is an up and coming online boutique specializing in pearl and jade jewelry that has been very successful since RBP performed the design and development of their current online boutique.
Based in Los Angeles, SpinDaily.com is a “video lifestyle blog that spins what is hip, cool and “up and coming” in fashion / beauty / design and just plain ol’ fun”. They investigate fashion trends and styles and find the best of the best for your spinning pleasure. Take a look at what they had to say about Mudan Boutique.

It has been a very long time since our last post. We apologize for that. New family additions, building homes and our crazy hectic development schedule have not left us with much time to devote to our journal.
Another Year, Another Opportunity

Here it is – 2007. Man, that doesn’t even sound right. It seems like it was just summertime yesterday. Some might say it still feels like it. Where is the time going? It seems like time is going by twice as fast! I know it is not, but I guess it is just our perception of time through our fast-paced lives.
Well, 2006 was a great year for us personally and for Rockbeatspaper. My wife and I bought our first new house in January and are now expecting our first new addition to our family. Our baby girl will be here shortly. She is due in February, so wish me luck with being a daddy (I think I am going to need it and some sleep). We are very excited about her arrival!!
Rockbeatspaper just wrapped up its second full year in 2006. It was a great year for us. Some of the noted highlights were moving into some great office space, bringing on an “intern” who we hope to transition to a full-time employee before long, creating several successful partnerships with design firms around the country and developing a dedicated sales team. God has blessed us immensely this past year and we look forward to everything he has in store for us this year!
We hope to really expand our business in 2007. Some goals we have on the horizon are to increase our productivity and sales, fully develop our Shrinkwrap service, and launch our first web-based application this year. These goals are going to keep us very busy all year, but we anticipate everything 2007 has to offer!
Please drop us a line and let us know what your goals and resolutions are for the new year. We wish everyone a safe and successful 2007!

Other Ways We Can Help
We have designed award-winning websites and we know you can too. Do you have that same desire to make your clients happy? Does XHTML and CSS fall in the same category as IRS, W-4 and MIA?
Then we think that we have something that can help. Shrinkwrap is for the designers that only want to be designers. If you would like to offer great web design and development to your clients without the hassle of understanding XHTML, CSS, and browser compatibility, then Shrinkwrap is for you! You produce the great design and we take it from there.
And don't worry, we put plenty of thought into Shrinkwrap. We will coach you through a design consultation so that you will know what to do, and what not to do. Then you focus on producing a great web-ready design layout and we do the rest. Contact Us or visit www.tidypackage.com to learn more and get started!
